5 Reasons That Nurses Want to Work in Cambridge

Cpl Healthcare Have Great Opportunities for Polish Nurses in England

Although originally from Poland I am now living and working in Ireland as a Nurse Recruitment Consultant with Cpl Healthcare.  My current project is to recruit Polish nurses for an NHS Hospital in the wonderful city of Cambridge, and this has made me think about how best to advise Polish nurses on what to expect when they start their nursing careers abroad.

Let me start by telling you a bit about myself and how I decided to embark on a career outside of Poland.  I finished my degree in 2012 and started looking for work immediately, to my dismay it was very hard to find a job in my country and I was faced with the prospect of emigrating for better employment prospects.

I was nervous when I decided to leave Poland, but I knew that leaving was my best option so I chose to leave and I have never looked back. I found a great career, friends and even true love here in Ireland and whenever I wish to visit my family in Poland I can jump onto a Ryanair flight and be home in 3 hours, more importantly, I can afford it as salaries are much better here! I am now helping Polish nurses to discover the great opportunities that lie in the UK and Ireland.

I know first-hand that moving to an English-speaking country can be a daunting prospect, but don’t be scared, no one is going to judge you! As long as you try and practice, it gets better every day.

Here are my Top 5 reasons that you should be excited about a nursing career in Cambridge:

  • Amazing Benefits:

They offer a Band 5 salary which is around 4 times more than average nursing salary in Poland, they offer £400 relocation pack, free accommodation for the first month to name just a few.

  •  Only a few hours from home:

There are many options currently available to Polish nurses.  For many the choice of where to work is based on travel time home.  Cambridge is only half an hour from Stansted airport and the flight to Poland is approximately 2 hours.

  •  Beautiful city of Cambridge:

Cambridge city is one of the most picturesque cities in England. It has been recently awarded the UK best city to live and work in according to the 2014 report from the Centre for Cities which was based on unemployment and general quality of living.

  • A vibrant culture:

There is always something going on in Cambridge, it has a full calendar of events all year round. The choice of activities will satisfy all ages, budget and interests.

  •  Great working conditions and career prospects:

Cambridge has been named top trust in the Midlands and East Anglia by the health research organisation Dr Foster. The award, was based on our mortality ratio and patient survey results, and demonstrates that Cambridge is one of the safest hospitals in the NHS. CUH supports their nurses in their working life. We have placed nurses from abroad before and we receive positive feedback from them regularly, they simply love working in Cambridge and are very grateful that we helped them find employment there.

Living in the UK is a great opportunity to improve your English, further your career and see the world!
