Social Worker required for locations in the South East of the UK. The role is responsible for leading a unit comprised of Social Workers and Administration staff. The positions are for children and families services with specialism areas including access, children in need, disabilities and children in care.

The Job:

• To lead a social work unit to ensure a high quality and effective social work service for vulnerable children/young people and their families through the delivery of timely and appropriate services in response to the needs of the children and families.  Assess, plan and deliver focussed intervention to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes.
• Undertake assessments of needs, risks and options for children and young people with the most complex/high risk care needs and/or circumstances, in accordance with legislative requirements
• Manage the allocation of resources within the unit.
• Build professional relationships with children and their families to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes

• To be fully accountable for all work undertaken for children allocated to the social work unit.
• To make a key contribution towards developing policies and procedures for the relevant service area, and to actively participate in policy formulation for the department.
• Take the lead in initiating, developing and sustaining internal and external working relationships with other professionals, partner organisations and external agencies.

The Person:

• Social Work Degree/Diploma in Social Work (Validated in UK)
• Proven knowledge and understanding of child development, parenting capacity, environmental factors and risk and protective factors.
• Significant previous experience of assessing complex situations and providing sound professional and managerial advice
• Knowledge of childcare legislation and statutory guidance
• Experience of workload management across a diverse team, including prioritisation of casework.
• Knowledge and understanding of a range of systemic interventions and methodologies, and commitment to use of Systemic approaches and Social Learning Theory interventions.
