Director of Nursing – Ferbane, Co. Offaly

Cpl Healthcare is partnering with a highly regarded nursing home group to recruit a Director of Nursing for a well-established care centre in Ferbane, Co. Offaly.

This 61-bed, purpose-built facility is part of a boutique nursing home group and is set within beautiful woodland gardens in the heart of Ferbane town. This is an excellent opportunity to lead a dedicated team in a supportive and quality-focused environment.

The successful candidate will be supported by both the Clinical Director and the Director of Quality and Safety.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Governance

  • Provide strong leadership and governance across all aspects of the care centre
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care to residents and their families
  • Maintain full compliance with HIQA regulations and standards
  • Promote a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement

Clinical & Operational Oversight

  • Oversee care delivery in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
  • Ensure effective communication with residents, families, staff, and external stakeholders
  • Monitor and support ongoing operations within the care centre

Management

  • Act as Person-in-Charge in accordance with the Health Act 2007 and HIQA standards
  • Lead, manage, and develop the team, supported by the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)
  • Support staff training, development, and performance management
  • Implement and review policies and procedures in line with current guidelines
  • Manage risk, health & safety, complaints, and incident reporting
  • Foster a positive working environment with open communication and strong team engagement
  • Liaise with external agencies as required

Requirements

  • Registered General Nurse with NMBI
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in care of older persons within the last 6 years
  • At least 3 years’ management experience
  • Level 8 qualification in Management (or equivalent)
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
  • Strong knowledge of ageing, clinical care, and best practices in elder care
  • In-depth understanding of HIQA standards, the Health Act, and relevant legislation
