Cpl Healthcare are currently recruiting for an Ophthalmic Nurse on behalf of a leading private specialist eye care provider based in Dublin.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly regarded ophthalmology service that offers advanced diagnostic, surgical and outpatient eye care. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will support patients throughout their surgical and clinical journey while developing specialist skills within ophthalmology.

The Role

As an Ophthalmic Nurse, you will work across clinical, theatre and patient support functions in a busy specialist setting.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Assist with ophthalmic diagnostic testing and patient assessments.
  • Support pre-operative and post-operative patient reviews.
  • Conduct patient history gathering and virtual consultations where required.
  • Collaborate with consultants, nurses and technicians to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Ensure accurate clinical documentation and record keeping.

Theatre Responsibilities

  • Scrub and assist during ophthalmic surgical procedures.
  • Prepare patients for surgery and provide perioperative nursing care.
  • Support surgeons during procedures and ensure all necessary equipment and materials are available.
  • Deliver patient education and post-operative instructions.
  • Participate in patient discharge assessments and follow-up care.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Respond to patient enquiries via phone and email.
  • Assist with procedure planning and scheduling.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation.
  • Contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the service.

Requirements

  • Active NMBI registration (RGN).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Patient-focused approach with a strong service ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Previous ophthalmology experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
  • Applicants must have the legal right to work in Ireland at the time of application.
