Children's Residential Home Manager

Salary: €56,256 – €65,912 (dependent on experience)

Location: Letterkenny, Co. Donegal

An established provider of therapeutic residential care services for children and young people is seeking an experienced Children's Residential Home Manager to lead and develop a residential home in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal, ensuring the highest standards of care, safety, and regulatory compliance.

The Role

The Home Manager will be responsible for the overall management and operation of a children's residential home, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment that promotes positive outcomes for young people.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree level qualification in Social Care, Social Work, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Counselling, Social Studies, Nursing, Disability Studies or a related discipline.
  • Full clean driving licence and access to a car.
  • Valid working rights for Ireland.
  • Significant experience working within children's residential care services, including leadership or management responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant childcare legislation, national standards, and best practice guidance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop multidisciplinary teams while maintaining high standards of care and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day management of a children's residential home, ensuring a safe, therapeutic, and nurturing environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant childcare legislation, national standards, company policies, and best practice.
  • Oversee the assessment, admission, care planning, and review processes for young people, promoting positive outcomes and person-centred care.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with families, social workers, education providers, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage, supervise, support, and develop the staff team, including recruitment, induction, performance management, and training.
  • Ensure effective communication, record-keeping, reporting, and attendance at relevant reviews, planning meetings, and court proceedings where required.
  • Monitor service quality through regular audits, governance processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage budgets, financial procedures, and home resources in line with organisational requirements.
  • Maintain a safe, homely, and well-maintained environment for young people and staff.
  • Promote high standards of professional practice, safeguarding, and wellbeing across the service.
