Nursing Home Activity Coordinator

Cpl Healthcare in partnership with our client based in Roscommon are currently recruiting a dedicated and creative Nursing Home Activity Coordinator to provide residents with engaging and recreational activities, they play a crucial role in the well-being and quality of life of nursing home residents.

The ideal candidate is someone with a passion for working with the elderly, has excellent interpersonal skills, and a creative mindset for planning diverse activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and Organizing Activities: Design a variety of activities that cater to the interests and abilities of the residents, including arts and crafts, music sessions, exercise classes, gardening, and social events
  • Personalized Engagement: Engage with residents to understand their preferences and past hobbies, tailoring activities to meet their individual needs
  • Promoting Social Interaction: Create opportunities for residents to socialize and build relationships, helping to combat feelings of isolation and loneliness
  • Health and Wellbeing: Organize activities that promote physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing, such as gentle exercise, memory games, and relaxation sessions
  • Logistics and Coordination: Manage the logistics of activities, including arranging transportation for outings, booking venues, and ensuring all necessary materials and equipment are available
  • Volunteer and Staff Coordination: Train and supervise volunteers or staff members who assist with activities
  • Feedback and Improvement: Collect feedback from residents to assess the effectiveness of activities and make improvements as needed

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as an Activity Coordinator in a nursing home or similar setting
  • A FETAC Level 5 or other equivalent qualification in healthcare
  • Strong knowledge of the needs and interests of seniors
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and holidays
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work with elderly individuals, including those with varying levels of physical and cognitive abilities
