Are you a Registered Nurse passionate about supporting recovery, reducing harm and making a genuine difference in people’s lives? An opportunity is available to join a community‑based Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) service in North West Tasmania, working with individuals and families impacted by substance use.
This role offers meaningful, relationship‑focused work within a supportive, multidisciplinary team that values compassion, collaboration and evidence‑based practice.
About the Service
This community mental health and wellbeing service delivers holistic, client‑centred AOD care across both public and private settings. The team is committed to improving outcomes for consumers and the broader community through integrated healthcare approaches, strong partnerships and trauma‑informed practice.
You’ll be supported by experienced colleagues and encouraged to grow professionally while contributing to a service that prioritises dignity, safety and recovery.
The Role
As a Registered Nurse specialising in Alcohol and Other Drugs, you’ll provide high‑quality clinical care in line with relevant legislation, professional standards and service protocols. Working across community, outreach and inpatient settings, you’ll support clients at various stages of their recovery journey.
Your work will include assessment, treatment planning and therapeutic intervention, with opportunities to engage in education, group programs and collaborative care.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Conduct comprehensive AOD and wellbeing assessments
- Develop and review individualised care and recovery plans
- Provide therapeutic interventions and counselling support
- Support withdrawal management and ongoing recovery
- Deliver pharmacotherapy treatment and harm minimisation advice as part of the multidisciplinary team
- Facilitate group programs and education sessions
- Collaborate with families, community organisations and healthcare partners
- Attend case conferences and maintain accurate clinical documentation
- Travel to outreach centres and inpatient facilities as required
You will need
- Current registration with AHPRA
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in mental health or addiction services
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced setting.
- Strong communication skills.
- Understanding of trauma‑informed and recovery‑oriented care
- Postgraduate qualifications in Addictions (desirable)
- Current driver’s licence (desirable)
